Sexual Politics Now:
Discussion by Gregg Bordowitz

Sexual Politics Now was a lecture held at the gallery that focused on the recent election and the appeal by the Republican Party to the homophobia of a significant margin of the electorate, thus resulting in a strongly divided popular vote and the veto by eleven states on the issue of gay marriage. In his talk Gregg Bordowitz argued that sexual politics are at the center of domestic politics now and can be linked directly to our military agenda abroad.

GREGG BORDOWITZ is a writer, film and video maker. His films, including Fast Trip Long Drop (1993) and Habit (2001) have been widely shown in festivals, museums, movie theaters and broadcast internationally. His writings have been published in numerous publications and journals including: The Village Voice, Frieze, Artforum, Art Journal, Documents and October. His book “The AIDS Crisis Is Ridiculous and Other Writings 1968-2003, was published by MIT Press in 2004. In addition to being a member of the Film/Video/New Media and Visual and Critical Studies Departments at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, he is on the faculty of the Whitney Museum Independent Study Program.
